Travelogue

11 th June Haridwar As usual we all got up late and were ready to roam around in Haridwar. By 9am we were at Mansa Devi temple. We took a combined ticket of cable car of Mansa Devi and Chandi devi, which turned out to be a mistake. There was no rush and we boarded the cable car in no time. After taking blessings from Mansa Devi we were on our way to Chandi devi. We reached their by 11 and were surprised to find a huge rush. So much so that we were told that our turn on the cable car will come after 2 hours. We enquired with the people around and they said that it is just half an hour climb. We decided to walk and really we were at the temple in half an hour. We took darshan and were on our way back. Then we went to Har Ki Pauri. We had a wonderful time there frolicking in Holy river Ganga, looking at the trinkets being sold around and tattoo makers busy in their work on the road side. This day was completely spent in the travel. There was nothing to write about. It was a comfortable travel. We started from Badrinath at around 6.30 and reached Haridwar at 7pm. We had already spoken to the people of Premnagar Ashram and after getting down headed straight to the ashram. After checking in took bath, had dinner and retired for the day

9 th June 2013 Badrinath In the morning at 5am when most of the people were getting up, we too got up. As we were sleeping in the corridor, we went to the Bharat Seva Sangh office and requested them for a room. They said that it will be allotted at 8am. Then we requested them to keep our luggage till that time. They were ready for that. By now some rooms were vacant. After seeking permission we got into one of the vacant room and finished our morning chores including bathing. Now we were ready for the day. We took a stroll around to find out a restaurant around. Some of them were just opening. We entered one and ordered for hot breakfast. They said it will take time and we were ready to wait as we did not have any other work. We waited for half an hour and hot idlis were served. We had our full as last night also we had not eaten anything of significance. Now it was around 8. We went to Bharat Seva Samaj and they allotted us a room. Now we were relaxed. After moving our luggag

This was a memorable part of the journey. Memorable for all the wrong reasons!   Our bus was scheduled to start at 5.30am. So we all got up at 4.30 and were at the bus stand at 5.15am. On reaching we were told that our bus was cancelled. We had a shock and really started thinking what to do? We inquired what has happened and he said the bus has developed a snag. But we waited and in an hour’s time he told us that the bus was coming. Finally the bus arrived and we were on our way to Badrinath at 7am. Just before Rudraprayag, a tanker had stopped in the middle of the road and was cold. Lot of things were tried to start it bus it would not budge. Almost 2 hours we were stuck in traffic jam. Finally the army came in and towed the tanker and the traffic started. On reaching Rudtraprayag, our bus stopped so that we can have our lunch. But the bus would not start again. Lot of things was tried and finally the cleaner and the passengers were pushing the bus so that it starts. But while
