Bhimashankar Trek 13.8.1994

Bhimashankar Trek 13.8.1994 4 friends, Suwas Darvekar, Salim Fidai, Hemant Patil and Ravi Patil were a group of crazy people, who were recently stung with a trekking bug. A small trek to Matheran was done before and with that experience, we thought of doing another trek. 13 th August 1994. It was a 3 day holiday on a trot 13 th being a Saturday, 14 th a Sunday and 15 th August being the Independence Day. So this 4 crazy people meet early in the morning at Dadar station to trek. Where to trek was not yet decided, but we were all packed for a good trek. Every one of us was carrying water, foodstuff, Torch and a rope. Of course we were carrying spare clothes. All this packed up well in a polythene bag because rains were anticipated. Since most of the treks are in the central railway segment, we boarded a train to Ambernath. We got down at Ambernath and were discussing about which trek to do. Suddenly I remembered that there is a Bhimashankar trek from Karjat. I expressed tha...

My First Century on Bicycle 29.5.2015

My First Century on Bicycle. Thank u Sunny and Saurabh for being accommodative. Really needed ur support for d first century. And all d team members were fabulous. Speed masters Sherwin n Kiran, ever enthusiastic Vinay n doc, very supportive Saurabh n Sunny and a speedster Pranaya on MTB. It was a night ride to Navapur beach, in Vasai, and the ride was done at night What helped me d most was d regular training of 50-60kms. That made riding a century easy. And keeping myself hydrated also added a lot, albeit I was a little dehydrated at d end of d ride. Chikki or energy bars made lovingly by Vidya also did a big trick. Especially d recovery from fatigue. What was important that v ate after some intervals   and also drank approxately 500ml of water for every hour riding on d bike. This is what is recommended. I was short by around a litre of water in d end as I had rode for 6 hours n had drank 2 litres of water. I m sure this info will help a lot of budding champs....

Bhimashankar Trek. Monsoon had started more than a month back but due to many commitments just was not able to go to any trek. Finally last Sunday I.e 19th July once d cycles were distributed to d tribal students, I felt relieved that my commitment is over. But there was one more commitment left. I was d organiser of our Silver jubilee function of our graduation from GDC. But this function was on 24th July Friday and 25th July Saturday. So now I had d 26th July Sunday for me. N I was desperate to go to the trek. Himsahyadri had arranged a trek to Bhimashankar. They had arranged a bus that was to start from Borivali national park on 25th Saturday at 11pm that would take us to d base camp at Kathevadi, Khandas. Since d second part of of our get together was supposed to end by 4pm at lonavala, i got the Deccan express and reached home by 8.30pm. After reaching home, got ready quickly. 11th June 2013 Haridwar

11 th June Haridwar As usual we all got up late and were ready to roam around in Haridwar. By 9am we were at Mansa Devi temple. We took a combined ticket of cable car of Mansa Devi and Chandi devi, which turned out to be a mistake. There was no rush and we boarded the cable car in no time. After taking blessings from Mansa Devi we were on our way to Chandi devi. We reached their by 11 and were surprised to find a huge rush. So much so that we were told that our turn on the cable car will come after 2 hours. We enquired with the people around and they said that it is just half an hour climb. We decided to walk and really we were at the temple in half an hour. We took darshan and were on our way back. Then we went to Har Ki Pauri. We had a wonderful time there frolicking in Holy river Ganga, looking at the trinkets being sold around and tattoo makers busy in their work on the road side. After enjoying we were back to our room as we had to board the train today at 6.50pm. bags we...
