Travelogue of Uttarakhand

Preparations
Our planning to uttarakhand(UK) had started well in advance. We were to go on 30th of May, and I had booked my air ticket in January. As I had booked the ticket well in advance I got them at a very good price of Rs 4500 per person for Mumbai Dehradun one side. The train tickets were booked 120 days before the date and therefore the travelling part was secured. After going through many sites and reading many travelogues and esp. with utmost help from http://www.indiamike.com/ website had devised a plan to travel all the Chardham with Gaumukh added to the itinerary. Since we had decided on Gaumukh, we thought of preparing ourselves physically. So our physical training started in right earnest almost 2 months before the scheduled departure. I had started on around 2500 to 3000 skips per day and half an hour of cycling every day. We could not do cycling everyday but tried to do almost every alternate day. My skipping routines were in the morning and my cycling routines were at night after coming back from my clinic. My wife and both daughters also enthusiastically participated in the routines. We continued this till 2 days before our scheduled departure. Meanwhile we collected all the required paraphernalia needed for the trek. That included good trekking shoes(woodland), a walking stick, rucksack( both picked up from AVI Industries, Mumbai), a kilo of cashew nuts and other dry fruits to eat, cold clothing’s, caps and many pouches of (Oral Rehydration Salts)Electral(This is not the complete list but only the most important things are listed). A day before all the bags were packed and we were ready to depart. With 30th of May dawning we started our drive to the Airport
