1st June 2013
We got up at 4.30am. After finishing our morning rituals, we
started our climb at 5am. We reached Yamunotri at 8am. We took bath in the hot
spring that is channeled in a small pool. It was refreshingly hot. We were in
that hot water for half an hour. Then after changing over we went to the
temple, took darshan. Then we cooked a small quantity of rice in that hot pond,
or rather semi cooked it. Then tied that semi cooked rice in a small cloth. We
were told to make a kheer out of it and eat it as a Prasad. And spending some
time, we started our descend. We came down literally running. The way was jam
packed by the mules, and at certain places it was a traffic jam, where everyone
was stuck where they were. We made way and were at our room by 11.30am. We
freshened up, packed our bags and were in the cab at 12.30 pm. So started our journey
to Gangotri. We had planned to reach as close to Gangotri as possible by
evening. So via Dharasu bend our driver took us till Ganganani. On our way we
were to take the permit for Gaumukh, but by the time we reached Uttarkashi it
was 5.30pm and the office was closed. We called up the office and we were told
that we can get the permit from Gangotri itself. It was 7pm now and we were
really tired, as in that day we had got up early, had gone up and came down
from Yamunotri. After halting at Ganganani, we booked a room at Rama Guest
House. The tariff for a 3 bed room was Rs 300. One best thing here was our
hotel was just next to the hot water spring. So we changed over and were below
the flowing hot water and all our tiredness was washed off. We had a nice
sumptuous dinner at a restaurant opposite our hotel. We had specifically told
them to prepare food which was no spicy, as the less spicy food was also too
hot for us to handle. We were told that the food her is always non spicy as a
lot of foreigners come here to stay. After having our dinner we retired for the
day
